*Panel, Stickers and Screws ONLY, NO MODULE included*
This is a black and gold panel for the Intellijel Planar 2 recordable vector joystick module. \ designed to ignore the rectangular frames around the jack sockets found on the original panel. Instead, color coded the text underneath them, using white color for the inputs and gold for the outputs. It’s not as easy to identify which is which, but it’s way more stylish and clean.
On the original aluminium panel the hole around the joystick is countersunk. This was impossible to reproduce on PCB. Instead, Dusty Clouds increased the diameter of the hole to allow the full angled movement of the joystick. Making the hole wider exposed the silver colored metallic parts underneath and that, was unacceptable. To overcome this Dusty Clouds designed a ring shaped black sticker.
"After removing the panel, I installed the sticker around the joystick’s base and re-installed my panel. The sticker did a great job masking the silver parts, but I wasn’t finished yet. The inner side of the PCB hole was too bright because there was no solder mask applied there. This is something that doesn’t usually bother me simply because the inner part of the holes is covered or filled by components (knobs, jacks, LEDs, etc), but on this case it was exposed. I solved the problem simply by painting this part with a black permanent marker. After I painted there was no way to tell if this was done by hand or not, the color was deep and the ink dried immediately. The only thing left was to source black 2.5mm screws to replace the silver ones around the joystick, and so I did."
These panels pre-painted, along with 2 stickers (if something goes wrong with the first one) and 4 black 2.5mm screws.
The panel is made of PCB with matte black solder mask. The exposed copper is coated using the ENIG-RoHS (Nickel and Gold) finish for extra durability and nice golden color.
*Panel installation tips* Unscrew everything and remove the original panel using a vertical movement to avoid damaging the components. Next, apply the sticker around the joystick. Now carefully install the black panel while you keep an eye on the LEDs, you don’t want to damage any of them. If a LED bends a little, you can carefully reposition it. Next screw everything loosely including the black screws that came with the panel. After everything is in place you can continue securing them gently.
**Disclaimer | Before you buy** This is not an official Intellijel product. You are fully responsible for any damage you cause to your module, other gear or your self while handling, installing or using the parts that we offer. There are many through hole parts on the module that are soldered in a way that may lead to small center point offsets from one module to another. The panels are made with a margin at the holes to make it easier for you to install them, but again, be careful. we take no responsibility if you can’t install your panels for any reason. The panels are made of PCB so there will be minor imperfections on the silk screen, or the solder mask, the holes, the cuts etc.. In fact, it’s really rare for a PCB panel not to have imperfections. This has to do with the manufacturing process and the materials that are used.
